Axel Hellstenius (born 1960) is one of Norway’s most prominent writers, whose works span from literary fiction, stage plays as well as film and television titles. Since his debut in 1984 he has worked mainly for the big screen and for television. In 1999 he wrote the libretto for the opera, SERA that was staged in Oslo and Bergen. Amongst other things, he wrote the acclaimed stage adaptation of ELLING, based on the Norwegian classic, BLOOD BROTHERS by Ingvar Ambjørnsen. In addition he has written several children’s books. On the side he runs script writing courses both in Norway and abroad and is often hired as consultant for various projects.
