This is a drama about the longing for intimacy, but also a black portrait of the family as an institution and love as a romanticized lie. The play is set in a cold cellar and sets out as a love triangle – a play within the play – in which a wealthy man, Martin, has hired a younger couple to perform intimate scenes to which he only dares to make a preliminary move. Jealousy gets free rein, when Tage, Martin’s mentally unstable brother and the catalyst for emotions and desire, enters as the fourth person and in conjunction with the young man initiates an abuse of Martin. A play about latent violence and a fascinating drama of the scarring of the soul which makes it impossible to choose love.
