Peter Asmussen (1957-2016) was an award winning writer, who had his debut in 1989 with the collection of short stories “Voice”. Since then he has written a number of prosaic works, film scripts, plays for radio and television as well as librettos. He was one of the most productive and proven Danish dramatists.

In his wide-ranging and experimental drama Asmussen was revolving about a language loaded with concealment surrounding the lack of meaning of existence in general and the loneliness of people in particular. In a mixture of beauty and pessimism he has described death and love of modern man and he masters the difficult art of writing sober everyday lines, which open up a mysterious and mythical space. The unspoken threats and descriptions of dissolved relationships in his dramas are pointing back to such authors as Strindberg in his later years, to Ibsen – the symbolist, Harold Pinter and Lars Norén.
