Vienna, 1938: The Nazis have occupied the city. The Jewish psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, is considering whether he should flee to England or not, strongly urged by his daughter Anna. That evening Anna is collected by the Gestapo and Freud’s world is about to fall apart. Suddenly, a stranger enters his sitting room, but who is this stranger? Is it God? The Devil? Or is it a runaway patient from the nearby mental hospital? The two men talk throughout the evening and it turns out the mysterious guest knows remarkably much about Freud. The conversation questions his atheism and several other things which the aging Freud has to reconsider. The dialogues are spiced with clever elements, and overall the play appears as a bright and unpretentious comedy. This is absolutely a story worth reading and seeing; it does not only able to entertain, but also raises immense, crucial questions.
