Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt was born in France, in 1960, and he is currently living in Brussels. He has a doctor’s degree in philosophy and additionally, he has studied music and literature. In less than a century he has grown to be one of the most popular authors in France. Besides prose, he has written a series of plays, for which he received much praise – including Moliére awards. Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt has been nominated for the Prix de l’Académie Française twice. In the year 2000, the novel L’evangile selon Pilate was published, which won him the Grand Prix des Lectrices de Elle. Subsequently, his work has placed itself on the bestseller lists in France for several months. Numerous works have been translated into Nordic languages.
