This is a truly well-written drama, offering good roles for five actors. Diane and Richard, two wealthy young individuals in top positions, have been together for years. However they don’t trust each other. Richard has proposed to her, but she has not accepted yet. When she feels that his love is fading – and it is confirmed – she plays a dangerous game to test their relationship. She introduces him to two foreign prostitutes, an older and a younger, by making them act like mother and daughter, and by telling them that Richard has only a few months left to live in order to observe his feelings. As Richard falls in love with the amazingly beautiful “daughter”, who rapidly returns his love, Diane regrets to realize that she has lost him forever – even though he loved her deeply before she tested his love. The play paid homage to Diderot.
