Two married couples meet by chance in an empty beach hotel. For the first time they are forced to face the absurdity and loneliness of their mundane existence. Summer after summer they return, drawn to each other and to the feeling of freedom of their newfound, isolated world. “The Beach” is a strange and intimate comedy of the trials and the depths of love of four characters, who are suffering from old wounds. The concealments have a function as a description of people whose lives have lost their contents and meaning – this is a description of a lost generation.
