A tragic, but also great comical play about the Danish version of John F. Kennedy – the Danish social democratic prime minister Jens Otto Krag (1914 – 78). This is the story about a charismatic politician’s prime time and fall, the relationship he had with his wife, her mother and a few political characters, among others Per Hækkerup. The play is in 3 parts: First part takes place in the early sixties, when krag was the minister of foreign affairs (until 1662). This is the time when Viggo Kampmann resigned from the prime minister post because of bad health, and Krag took over the title and kept it until 1972/73. Second part takes place in the middle and end of the sixties, in which he is visited by Gagarin and Khrustjov among others. Third part depicts the period of 1972 – 1978 and focuses on the events following the EU-election (1972), in which Krag surprised everyone by resigning from his prime minister title (1972/73). Holm examines Krag’s work as the leader of the EU-commission delegation in Washington DC. A disappointing time that seemed to spark his drinking problem, which was most likely caused by loneliness. The final scene is the death scene at his summerhouse location in northern Jutland.
