RADIO: SPRING 2 F / 3 M Radio theatre Before Asmussen wrote his debut piece, “CRY” for radio theatre in 1991 he had already written a text for the youth programme “P4 in P1”. The title was: “SPRING” and it was both a radio play and a kind of sound collage: sound scape interspersed with speech. It is a story which takes place in a near future and with themes which are found in some other of his later works: Conversation – cut off – or deficient communication and the very different approaches to life of people. In this future society food is something for which you have to beg. In return telecommunication is free. People can listen to each other’s voice mails free of charge; they can participate by systemizing their absence by leaving new messages. In this way all too direct meetings with others can be avoided.
