The play is based on ‘Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk’ by Jaroslav Hasek. Schweyk, incarnation of the indestructible little man, emerges in Nazi-occupied Prague and becomes involved with informers, patriots, and the Gestapo, never betraying whether his stupidity is real or assumed.
