The leading role in this intellectual Russian farce is the wilful Valya – an Oblomov-like philosophical type who has dropped her university studies to work as a victim in the video documented murder reconstructions. The story alternates between Valya’s grotesque-philosophic monologues and tense conversations with the parents in the ramshackle house as well as a noticeable interaction with the reconstruction team on different crime scenes around Moskva; an out door café near a toilet, a swimming bath and a half-empty Japanese restaurant. The Presnyakov brothers introduce us to a colourful gallery of original characters who ach in their own way attempt to understand reality and find some kind of truth – because then there would have to be meaning to it all! A bizarre and hilarious idea drama disguised as a black comedy.
