MES ÉVANGILES is actually two plays concerning the same mystery: LA NUIT DES OLIVIERS and L'EVANGILE SELON PILATE. They can be performed together or separately, and they are both dramatisations of the novel “L’evangile selon Pilate” from 2004. On the last day of the Jews’ Easter party Pontius Pilatus is told that Jesus, the magician from Nazareth, is missing from his grave. In order to avoid the theft being exploited for political purposes by his opponents Pilatus initiates an investigation to find the body. However, the body returns. And it is alive. Dissociating himself from irrational explanations Pilatus searches Jerusalem, hoping to find a logical answer; by interrogating Herodes, Herodias, the disciples, the doctors and the high-priests of the temple. But his efforts are opposed which forces him to search along the roads of Galilee. The further he goes, the more deepened the mystery becomes.
