This is the scenic, shortened version of Schmitt’s novel with the same title. October 2005, the play premiered. It contains letters, written by the author to the composer (text length: 45-60 minutes) and an excerpt with music by Mozart as a response to the letters. Schmitt depicts how Mozart’s music changed his life and explains how he felt better because of the music after a suicide attempt as a teenager, and how Mozart has sent him messages throughout his life. Music has filled him with love and made him strong and optimistic. Mozart becomes the master of wisdom as well as the master of music. Schmitt premiered the play with an orchestra of 40 musicians and soloists (choir and clarinet) in a sold-out hall with 2000 seats. The play has also been performed with musical accompaniment to harp and a singer in a smaller concert hall. The manuscript has been translated into Swedish, Norwegian and English.
