An absurd and semi- autobiographic play written in 1984 – a year after Havel was released from prison. The play is about a political writer and philosopher, Leopold Nettles, who has disturbed the public peace with an essay and is expecting to be arrested. Isolated at home he is awaiting the secret service to enter, while his paralyzing paranoia is generating an infernal madness. “Largo Desolato” is a play about having a personal identity and integrity.
