This is a tragicomic comedy about Danes living abroad and the life of a retired married couple in Costa del Sol. The play takes place in Grete and Kurt’s over-furnished owner-occupied flat with a Mediterranean view. It is Christmas day and 18 degrees outside. Nevertheless, the temperatures of their hearts vary. This year is their first Christmas alone – without a real Christmas tree. But soon, the Spanish fisher comes over for a quick drink and later Erna Tygesen arrives with a plant that resembles a Christmas tree – which is soon replaced by a plastic tree brought over by the cheerful Swede, Jägmästaren. This is a very lively play, containing both black humour and gravity.
