The wealthy and ambitious Isbrandt has only one wish in the world: to meet his daughter Mira, whom he has never seen. Mira’s mother – Sibylle – to whom he was unfaithful following the birth of their daughter refuses his request – and life is about to run out for Isbrandt. Hence he sends a young man as messenger with an ultimatum: either he will be allowed to meet Mira or else he will destroy the world which Sibylle has built around herself and her daughter. Sibylle refuses his request for a meeting; however, there are stronger things in the world than Isbrandt’s ultimatum and Sibylle’s refusal. Mira has seen the messenger and her heart is on fire. This is a play which in a chilly and frostbitten atmosphere describes human relationships split between power and love.
