A youth named Sloane comes in search of a room to rent. The slattern landlady gives him one and then demonstrates the deluxe service by seducing him. Along comes her brother, who is shocked to discover such goings on, but then perversely sets out to capture Sloan’s affections for himself. The fourth character, their father, believes he saw Sloane murder someone in the neighbourhood. To silence him, Sloane kicks the old man to death. This hardly ruffles the landlady or her brother; indeed, they now have Sloane exactly where they want him: they divvy him up so that each will enjoy his company for six month a year.
