Grimsdottir’s novel from 1989 was an instant success and immediately marked her as one of Iceland’s most prominent authors. In her work, she touches on issues such as child abuse, violence at home and child prostitution.
This adaptation, however, focuses on the Isbjörg character, who is charged with murder (split into two characters) and her shocking conversations with her lawyer.
A brutal text rich on food for thought!
