This play examines the causes and consequences of AIDS. It looks at how the sexual revolution of the '60s and the '70s led people to experiment with drugs, sex, and alternative life styles in the belief that emotional liberation would follow physical liberation. Brøgger’s verdict is that our excesses have become our downfall. The characters realize too late that sexual experimentation has not transformed their lives into the nirvana promised by their gurus. Having rejected everything their parents stood for, they have instead turned into a contemptible generation obsessed with appearences and material goods. The play echoes the style of Greek tragedy: Five characters deliver their monologues interspersed with songs and comments from the chorus. The play is translated into English, German, and French.
