Sigurd Barrett

Sigurd Barrett was born 1967,has MSc Phil in Musicology from the University of Aarhus, debuted as a professional musician at age 12. Have formed 3 bands and played more than 3000 concerts in 17 countries, including as an entertainer with The Sigurd Barrett Piano Show for the adult audience. He has made over 300 TV programs, including “Sigurd Bjørnetime”, “Sigurd & Symphony Orchestra”, “Sigurd & Big Band” and “Sigurd & Opera”, which introduces children to music. He has composed more than 1000 songs, written 22 books and released 21 CDs, which together have sold more than a quarter of a million copies. He has performed as soloist with all the Danish orchestras, including with DR Radio Symphony Orchestra in Denmark, Germany and China. In 2008 he composed the rock musical “A Midsummer Night's Dream” after Shakespeare's text, which played to sold-out houses during the spring 2009. He has been awarded numerous prizes, among others DR Radio Symphony Orchestra honorary award and the Wilhelm Hansen Music Public Outreach Award.
