McKay was already an establish actor when he left Hollywood for the benefit of an adventure in the Amazon Delta and camel riding through the Sahara. He became world famous for his role in the television series ‘Adventures in Paradise’ and created an outcry when he refused to co-star with Marilyn Monroe in the film ‘Something’s got to Give’ which was never produced in the end. Following his travels McKay returned to the USA, where he started on a career as a writer. McKay died in Honolulu during November 2001.
