During a 1943 air raid in Newcastle, Wittgenstein and his neighbours meet in the basement, where he has taken his young male lover. Confronted with bigotry and cluelessness, as well as the enlightened mind of 13 year old Sandra, Wittgenstein gives a brief and humorous lesson on the notion of meaning.
