This epic play was written in cooperation with the feministic group Monstrous Regiment in 1976 and depicts the destinies of a group of women during the 1600’s witch hunt. Betty from a landowner family is considered to be mad when she refuses to marry. Brawls and envy between neighbors are the cause of accusations against the unmarried Alice and her mother. Susan visits the wise woman to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy. In between the scenes are contemporary songs about the middle age’s view on women and the continued view on women who are older, poor, alone and otherwise unconventional.
