The film director Blake Edwards who is behind this stage adaptation has based the musical on one of his own films, Victor Victoria.
It is the story about a female singer who becomes a man in order to perform as a drag queen in nightclubs around Paris. Then one day, an American gangster boss falls in love with her, thinking she is a man. Though despite the confusions it all ends well and the homosexual singer who initially had Victoria change into Victor, gets a fine come back in the magnificent final scene.
Henry Mancini who is considered one of the world’s most famous musicians and composers of this century, has composed the music score for this show.
