This monologue is based on Einer Már Gudmundsson’s novel which won the prestigious Nordic Council Literature Prize in 1995. This is schizophrenic Paul’s description of his own birth and tragic death – and everything in between. From the childhood encounters in a fifties’ middleclass family to the turbulent sixties with the grotesque festivities to the first erotic experiences, the dreams and the hopes – followed by the life as a psychotic, kept behind the walls of an insane asylum, forever denied the company of normal people.
