The play takes place in an office of a Catholic church. Father Filip has just returned from Rome when a young woman, Lisa, crashes in. She is a drug addict, a prostitute, and on the run from a recent robbery. The play explores the confrontations between the career-minded, arrogant, young priest, hoping for a higher position in the Vatican, and this desperate human being from the gutters. Lisa challenges Father Filip's most vital Christian values of assisting the weak and helpless. For unknown reasons, helping Lisa is extremely difficult for him. Another priest and a nun intervene. But, the nun is attracted to Father Filip and becomes jealous of Lisa when she sees that the priest has problems with his vow of chastity. This moving play about society's winners and losers pits the orthodox expressions of the church against the rough language of the street. In so doing, it develops into a mixture of farce and tragedy.
