Sharing a flat or farming in the country, owing for the milk bill or being dead, ironing or laying jigzaw puzzles – in this play about communal living, all possibilities are open at once and co-existing like the perspectives in an Escher drawing. Churchill herself has defined her play as ”an impossible object”, which has a reality only on stage and not in life, but the compelling characters and the sincerity between them has a glow that is very much like life.
