This play takes place in the Southern states of America and portrays the troubles that arise when a very poor family is suddenly handed money, and here the disputes are between a husband, his two sisters, his wife and lastly his mother-in-law. From there it illuminates the fact that even the kindest and most innocent people can become more calculating than those whose intentions are malicious in the first place. Additionally, it is Lillian Hellman’s first play.
