Incredibly funny, classic comedy with songs. Filled with ludicrous situations and absurd comedy. The play is about a travelling theatre company with big ambitions and little capacity. The theatre is run by the pompous Piper who both directs and plays the leading roles, as well as many other activities. No matter how old or deprived of talent, his wife of course must play the young girl in the play. The prompter who naturally knows all the lines by heart desires to get on stage himself. The remaining four actors find it difficult to control their big egos. There is no end to the madness and unstableness of the characters. Piper promises the audience a night of surprises. And indeed, the performance offers surprises of a range and character which can only be described as accelerating chaos. The theatre company tears down every city and stage they visit.
