SPRING AWAKENING is a rock musical, which is based on Frank Wedekind’s anti-authoritarian play FRÜHLINGS ERWACHEN from 1891 about a first love’s brutal confrontation with an insensitive and sexually fretful society.
The musical explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a sharpness and passion that is at the same time enlightening, touching and unforgettable, and at the same time manages to make a fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll.
SPRING AWAKENING won no less than 8 Tony Awards, and the music written by the Grammy nominee, Duncan Sheik was called; “The most beautiful and well-composed Broadway score of this decade”.
