Dina’s mother is a Shamer – a person who, by looking you in the eye, can read the shame and the secrets you carry with you. Dina has inherited her mother’s abilities and for that reason she feels like an outcast in the small village she lives in – who wants to be friends with someone who can see everything you are trying to hide?

One day, a member of the court sends for Dina: the prince of Dunark has been murdered and now she finally has the opportunity to put her powers to good use. Drakan, the dead prince’s nephew, has a suspicion that the murderer is Dunark’s son, Nicodemus, and he wants Dina to look Nicodemus in the eye and read his guilt. Surprisingly, Nicodemus seems genuinely innocent. Then, who is the killer? And why is Dina’s mother being held captive? And why is Drakan keeping dragons?

THE SHAMER’S DAUGHTER is a fantasy tale with music and magic, but it is also a story about getting along with yourself and maybe finding your best friend. It is based on the book SKAMMERENS DATTER by Lene Kaaberbøl and is written and composed by the musical trio Høg · Aagaard · Svanekier.
