By coincidence, Bernard and Marion meet again after 22 years of not having seen each other. They once had a brief and passionate affair and are now in their mid fifties. Back then they parted because, on the night that Bernard had decided to leave his wife, she told him first that she was pregnant after 4 years of trying. Therefore, the lovers went their separate ways; leading separate lives eventually with each their three and four children.
However, when they meet the second time, Marion’s husband has dies and Bernard’s marriage is nothing but routine and so the former lovers take up their relationship where they once left it.
The play changes between past and present time and apart from playing the present parts, the two actors also play their younger selves as well as some of their own children.
