The author of this play calls it a capricious comedy and that is certainly a spot on description of his game playing with the English ambition of coming to terms with the Irish recklessness. The play illustrates an attempt to restore an old manor house from the Tudor time, where two Irish girls with green eyes and red hair have been installed as ‘Manor Ladies’. However, the whole affair has seemingly been doomed from the very beginning and the audience cannot but support the author when he at last lets the Irish entrepreneur and his helpers win this most bizarre and hilarious battle. Rarely has Irish humour triumphed as highly on stage, as with this comedy.
