This is a gripping and stirring thriller based on intellectual and philosophical themes. It starts when the mathematical genius, Robert dies. In his last couple of years, he had gone insane and so in order to nurse him, his daughter Catherine had put her own career as a mathematician, on hold. On her next birthday, while celebrating it with a bottle of champagne, her late father in spirit pays her a visit with a blessing.
Subsequently enters another mathematician, the young man Hal who is in love with Catherine and so one day when visiting, he claims to have found an epoch-making document among her father’s notes. Though shortly Catherine proclaims the document to be hers rather than belonging to her deceased father. Also involved is Catherine’s sister Claire whose part is essential for the many different layers in this exciting drama that won the Pulizer Prize in 2001.
