Ayckbourn’s 67th play is a mosaic of short scenes involving two or three characters. Every character has an impact on at least one of the other characters: We are introduced to the engaged couple Nicola and Dan; the estate agent colleagues, Stewart and Charlotte; Stewart’s sister Imogen and the hotel bartender Ambrose. Towards the end, Nicola has dumped Dan, who has moved into a hotel and has been on a successful date with Imogen. Stewart and Charlotte’s relationship has fallen apart, and Charlotte is now experiencing a personal triumph as a voluntary home help for Ambrose’s bedridden, yet hot-tempered father.
