Despite the fact that they do not follow the same narrative thread nor share the same characters, the focus is on subjects such as malevolence, rape, murder, torture, war, terrorism, dictatorship and religious fanaticism. The characters all irrationally cling to their values, leading them towards certain disaster. This is a petrifying piece of prose that manages to provide us with more questions than answers.
