This is an early one act play from 1937 which takes place in the locker room during a boxing match. It deals with two boxers – an older one (The Palooka) and a younger one (The Kid) who is about to do his first professional fight. The mood is tense! Before the fight the older boxer conveys the story about the grandmaster Galveston Joe. The young boxer is nervous. As the older one has entered the ring, the young boxer discovers that he has, in fact, met none other than Galveston Joe in person. ONE ACTS BY TENN is a series of one act plays by Tennessee Williams, written in the thirties and the forties. They can be performed separately or with others. Regarding USA productions the performance has been given the title 5 BY TENN or 8 BY TENN.
