This is a story of friendship between two men bound together by their hobby, home brewing. In the safe haven of their den at Orla’s house they pour all their energy into winning a local beer brewing competition. They use their passion to block out the life of their children (who are either jobless or earning twice their father’s salary), an unfaithful wife, and a bullying boss. Gradually the line between beer tasting and heavy drinking is blurred and the men drift slowly towards alcohol dependency, happily embracing its hazy world of self deceit. In a glorious second act they go on an imaginary trip to Southern France where good wine flows constantly. They are surrounded by people who want to be their friends and women who want to be their lovers. During their imaginary journey it becomes clear that the men are actually patients in a detox clinic.
