Two men in their sixties, Paul and Jules have been admitted to a hospital. They both suffer from cancer, and are told that they don’t have much time left. Wearing only their pyjamas’ they leave the hospital to commence an almost surreal adventure. On their way they meet a young, pregnant woman whose boyfriend has left her. They promise her to find him and thus, Paul and Jules have been given a righteous task which will lead them to a series of different people and places in the city night: the dance room, the abandoned park and the theatre. During their journey they instigate comical and poetic observations about life, love and death – set to appropriate and inappropriate situations. With this play, the French dramatist Samuel Benchetrit (born 1973) has written a great philosophical piece of work, which deals with death using plenty situation comedy and bizarre characters. They play was nominated for a Moliere for best play in 2006 and premiered in Paris starring Jean-Louis Trintignant and Roger Dumas.
