This play concerns a beautiful and self centred woman and her misjudgement of love and marriage. With no illusions and in a very cynical manner, the advantages of giving and taking are taken up for consideration. ‘When everybody takes their share, naturally the others will be left out’. The characters are neatly narrated and the dialog is sharp and clever. It is certainly one of Ustinov’s most interesting pieces.
