At the funeral of a husband who killed himself with work, a young woman comes to the realization that nobody can see her. She has always been the back side to her husband and she no longer knows who she is. When she stumbles out of the reception, she can sense that she has lost her attraction. And what is more - passersby find her literally repulsive, except for one dreamy young man who is attracted to her like a pack of nails to a magnet. A few months later, following another painful experience, she wanders aimlessly through the city centre, supported by two women, the Night and the Rain. Four streets in old Reykjavík seem to hold her past, forever pulling her in.
