"Lucky Happiness Golden Express" is a cheap Chinese restaurant, where a corpulent man, Andrew, every night and assisted by a comical duo of waiters ends up ordering the same dish. One evening he gets a stroke and his family gathers at the hospital: the daughters, Andrea and Thump who like to listen to themselves and would like to see his impending death because of the life insurance and inheritance, and their mother, Andrew's lifelong love, Vivian, who he and the girls once left. In flashbacks, parallel actions and a lot of black humour, Noah Haidle tells a condensed family story of missed opportunities, strong desires and the search for the lost paradise.
