It is summer, and Charlotte Löwensköld is happily engaged with the priest Karl Artur Ekenstedt who nearly loves her more than he loves God. A few days later everything is changed, and the engagement is off. What happened? Charlotte refuses to believe that the old Löwensköld curse has anything to do with it. Because what does that make of her? A marionette in the hands of dark powers? This is a dramatization of Selma Lagerlöf’s last, and by many regarded the best piece of work in the trilogy ”Löwensköldska ringen”, ”Charlotte Löwensköld” and ”Anna Svärd”. Selma Lagerlöf is one of Sweden’s most important authors. Her narrative art is inspired by reality as well as the riddles of life. Selma Lagerlöf received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909 – Note that she was the first Swede AND the first woman who accomplished this. Premiered at Stockholm Stadsteater 2008.
