Ned, an engineer in a private arms manufactory reveals to his family that he is the mastermind behind a new military technology so sophisticated and unique that it will revolutionise the way war is carried out in the future. When his boss informs him that the defence ministry demands ownership of the immaterial rights, Ned’s refusal sets off a series of discussions that examine the complex moral landscape of the arms industry. Ned begins to question himself and his attempts to defy the power of the arms industry will endure disturbing consequences. This is a strong and intellectual play about private qualms, public responsibility and a problem that can not be solved. Premiered at the Royal National Theatre in London: "Riveting... bitterly funny play" - Time Out / “[Penhall) is a brilliant writer of eccentric characters and funny, convincing dialogue, as well as being a superb analyst of the human soul.” – London Town
