Avery Corman’s adaptation for the stage of his novel from 1977 was made into a movie with Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman. The movie won 5 Oscars in 1979. Ted Kramer is a workaholic and he is rarely at home. It gets too much for his wife, Joanna, who leaves him and their son, Billy. The role of single parent does not seem to agree with Ted; however he deals with it and develops a close relationship with his son at the cost of his career. One day Joanna returns demanding custody of Billy through the courts.
