A text composed of parts from DER WANDERER (1998), TOTENAUBERG (1991), SPORTSTÜCK (1998) and an essay Elfriede Jelinek wrote on the theme of fashion in the Süddeutsche Zeitung (2000). It is about the woman as an object of desire, as a projection surface without identity for male conceptions of the female, about fashion and its artificial clothing standards which reduces the woman to a soulless dress doll stylized by the prevailing advertising aesthetics and exaggerated beauty ideals. In Elfriede Jelinek’s typical lavish language and with a good dose of sarcasm and self-irony, the audience is introduced to the perversity of the entire fashion world.
