A poetic and beautiful fairytale for children and adults, written like a Chinese box, opening up several stories. Ida is 10 years old and lives in Oslo, back when the city was named Christiania. She is sick and is not allowed to go out and play with the older children. So she makes up a story about a beggar girl and the prince of France – a story which brings us into the world of fairytales. The fairytale deals with strong ambiguities which periodically have affected the relationship between the public and the aristocracy. When problems are boiling over, and life hangs in a thread, even a French prince must seek out a genuine fairytale in order to find out which choices are wise and which aren’t. A central theme is trust - it is important to find someone who dares to trust you and someone who you dare trust. Another theme is freedom. A mental freedom to make your own choices. Premiered at Nord-Trøndelag Teater in 2008.
