This play takes place in Mississippi in the summer of 1975. For the last 14 years, a seventy-five years old blues singer, also known as the myth: The Man, has been officially dead. Nevertheless, the myth is still alive, so when a young English rock singer, touring with his band in the area, realises this, he takes the opportunity to seek him out. Partly out of curiosity as to hear the full story behind the myth but also in order to bring off a deal concerning his possible and sensational comeback. Inevitably this leads to confrontations beyond belief. The author of this play, who works at the Royal Court as a dramaturg, had his breakthrough with this formidably written, warm and witty play about the human price you pay, for a life in the arts.
