A middle-aged married couple, Ulla and Lennart, are planning a dinner for Ulla’s childhood friend, Kerstin. They have not seen each other for 30 years, since Kerstin moved to Stockholm and began her theater career, while Ulla stayed behind in the province in her childhood home on Hemvägen and married her childhood sweetheart, Lennart. Kerstin has become a media darling, and Ulla and Lennart’s inferiority is shown in their nervousness and great effort. Besides Kerstin, Lennart has invited Ulla’s brother, Einar, who used to date Kerstin. Even though everything is carefully planned, the evening takes its own chaotic course … A bittersweet comedy about love and friendship.
