The musical play heaven revolves around “The final things” the four corner storms of eschatology-death, judgement, heaven and hell (eschatology from the Greek Eschatos: last, outermost.) people all over the world have at times fantasised about a happy universe beyond where eternal peace rule and where death as the ultimate ticket to heaven is finally defeated. No matter what heavenly dream images you bring forth – personal, collective, religious, philosophical or mythological - they seem to collapse or fade when they are confronted with the time dimension in the beyond; the both luring and frightening “eternity”. The show is set as a journey on a cruise ship that could might as well be a spaceship, a submarine or…The journey in the central motive. They are about to depart, but no one knows the destination or the captain. We are in no-man’s-land- a limbo that during the show is gradually filled out with fragments of dreams, thoughts, questions and answers melting together, creating a dramatic coherent collage tied together by a mood creating and flexible set design. The 5 actors of the play examine and challenge the dreams about heaven and move unaffectedly back and forth crossing the threshold between “now” and “sooner or later”. Between “here” and “there”, between life and death, dream and reality, heaven and hell.
